Brother Dennis served two terms as Region III vice president but his dedication to the union and the country was far-reaching. After serving nine and a half years in the United States Air Force, Cherwinski joined the FAA in 1992 as an electronics technician. He joined PASS in 1993. When he retired from federal service in 2020 (at left with his successor as Region III vice president, Joan Matthiesen), he had been an active PASS member for nearly 30 years.

He continued to support the union as a retired member up until his passing.

Brother Dennis will be remembered for his calm persistence and determined focus on the rights of the bargaining unit employees he represented. During his years with PASS, he served as chapter vice president, local PASS representative and PASS liaison on a number of FAA programs, including those related to training, engineering and system design. Even after deciding not to run for the regional vice president position for a third term, he maintained his involvement as a member of the National Finance Committee, convention delegate and active member of Chapter CO3.

“I worked with Dennis on the Executive Board for several years,” said National President Dave Spero. “He was a great guy and dedicated to the betterment of our union. I am saddened by our mutual loss.”

Brother Dennis is survived by cherished friends and family.
