April 3 Call with the FAA
PASS Sisters and Brothers:
It’s been another busy week for PASS and I appreciate everything you are doing for the NAS during these challenging times.
Because our calls with the FAA have been going well, today’s call with ATO management was relatively brief and these are the highlights:
Time and Attendance Logging Issues: PASS is aware that there have been problems with CASTLE—logging official time, telework status, short-notice shift changes and more. The agency is going to address this as quickly as possible.
Facility cleaning: Some issues have been reported about the level of cleaning outlined in janitorial contracts as well as the frequency and quality of cleaning. The agency is looking at how to ensure that Level 2 cleanings are being applied appropriately.
You have reported to us that there are still instances of Air Traffic asking our Tech Ops employees to do cleaning in their areas. This should not be happening, and the FAA is taking steps to address this. Please use our form to report if this continues in your facility
Congressional outreach: This morning, I was invited on a call with U.S. Senators Ben Cardin and Chris Van Hollen, both representing Maryland and strong supporters of the federal workforce. They have been asked by Senate leadership to keep a pulse on federal employees during this time. We discussed how unions are helping workers get information and resources but also discussed some of the issues agencies are facing. I told the senators, and related on this afternoon’s call that I did so, that I am encouraged by these daily agency calls and being able to address your concerns in real time.
Styluses in stock next week: District managers will be coordinating the distribution of styluses to use on some equipment to reduce contact.
Everyone on the call today expressed appreciation for the improved communications between PASS and the agency over the last few weeks. I hope regular dialogue can become a routine part of our relationship even after the national emergency has ended.
