End of an Era: PASS Region V Vice President Retiring
Earlier this month, long-serving PASS Region V Vice President Bob Abbott announced his retirement from the FAA and PASS leadership, effective today, July 31. “It’s a bittersweet time for PASS and our Executive Board,” said National President Mike Perrone. “We have worked with Bob for years and have seen his dedication to our members. But while we’re losing a valued colleague, he’s leaving us with a stronger union.”
Under the leadership of Brother Bob, PASS organized the FAA’s Service Centers, bringing union representation to these dedicated federal employees, many of whom have already become dues-paying members. Brother Bob spent over 23 years in the U.S. Air Force, which included 16 years overseas as an air traffic controller, and started his FAA career in 1995 as an aeronautical information specialist in what is now Mission Support Services. Prior to being elected regional vice president in 2003, he served as first- and second-level contract representative. “My 15 ½ years of service in PASS leadership has been a highlight in my career and personal life,” said Brother Bob. “I will continue to support the union, however, as a retired member.”
“I know I speak for all PASS members, especially those in Region V, in wishing Bob the best in his retirement and thanking him for his service to all of us and to our country,” said President Perrone
