FAA Continues to Ignore Flawed FTI Program

CHICAGO, IL – The Professional Airways Systems Specialists (PASS), the union that represents more than 11,000 Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) employees, today cited the system failures in Chicago yesterday as yet another example of serious safety and efficiency problems with the flawed system. The failure at O’Hare Airport resulted in over 100 delays with the impact felt in operations at Aurora, Minneapolis, Indianapolis, Cleveland, and Kansas Air Route Traffic Control Centers (ARTCCs).

Nine-hour FTI Outage At Austin Tower Could Have Been Avoided

AUSTIN, TX – Last week’s nine-hour Federal Telecommunications Infrastructure (FTI) outage at the Austin Air Traffic Control Tower has the Professional Airways Systems Specialists (PASS), the union that represents FAA technicians, wondering how and when the FAA will finally address the severe deficiencies in the quality of work being performed by contractors. A contractor working for Harris Corporation, which currently provides the FAA with circuitry and communications, turned a 30-minute issue into a nine-hour outage.

PASS to Congress: FAA Neglecting Air Traffic Control Infrastructure

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Tom Brantley, national president of the Professional Airways Systems Specialists, AFL-CIO (PASS), warned members of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, Subcommittee on Aviation, today that the FAA is neglecting the buildings and facilities that accommodate critical National Airspace System (NAS) equipment and the employees who operate and maintain those systems.
