Washington, D.C.—Ahead of today’s hearing before the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation on the next FAA administrator, the Professional Aviation Safety Specialists, AFL-CIO (PASS), issued the following statement in support of Steve Dickson:

On behalf of the 11,000 employees PASS represents at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the union today announces its support for Steve Dickson to become the next administrator of the FAA.

In a letter to Commerce Committee Chair Roger Wicker (R-Miss.), PASS National President Mike Perrone wrote:

“The FAA has been without a permanent administrator for over a year and at a time when the agency is under intense scrutiny, it is imperative that the FAA have steady leadership at its helm.”

The Professional Aviation Safety Specialists, AFL-CIO (PASS) has issued the following statement on the crash of Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302, the Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft involved and the ongoing investigation:

PASS-represented employees in the Flight Standards service at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are responsible for the oversight, certification and surveillance of the entire American aviation system, including all general aviation and commercial aircraft, pilots and flight instructors, and repair stations both in this country and abroad. PASS also represents employees in the Manufacturing Inspection District Offices (MIDOs) within the Office of Aircraft Certification. These employees are involved in production approval and certification and airworthiness certification, which includes providing oversight of Boeing manufacturing.
