PASS Saddened at Passing of Congressman Jim Oberstar

The Professional Aviation Safety Specialists, AFL-CIO, is deeply saddened at the passing of Congressman Jim Oberstar, a true defender of aviation safety and the federal workforce. For decades, Congressman Oberstar championed employees of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), consistently fighting for increased aviation safety and oversight as chair of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.

"Today, all of PASS as well as aviation employees nationwide mourn the loss of a truly great man," said PASS National President Mike Perrone. "Congressman Oberstar fought every day for transportation employees throughout the country, as well as defending the rights of all workers. He was tireless in his defense of collective bargaining rights for FAA employees and fair treatment of employees. Congressman Oberstar was a genuine friend to PASS and his impact on the aviation industry and federal workforce will resonate for years to come. Our condolences go out to his family. He will be greatly missed."
