FAA Technicians Restored Service to Vital Airports
WASHINGTON, DC— Professional Airways Systems Specialists (PASS), the union representing FAA technicians, today praised its members who helped restore, and are currently maintaining, flight operations at key GulfCoastairports damaged by Hurricane Katrina.
“PASS wants to recognize the men and women who worked so long and hard under the most extreme conditions to restore service to airports in storm-damaged areas,” said Tom Brantley, PASS national president. “Their quick and selfless response made search and rescue flight operations possible.”
In spite of failures in other federal agencies, PASS members ensured that necessary airports were up and running within hours of the storm clearing. Some employees even stayed in towers and other facilities so they would be readily available for restoration efforts.
“These airports are vital to the ongoing relief and recovery effort and we’re proud of our members who are working so hard to ensure that the flow of aid continues into the region,” said Brantley.
