FAA Safety Employees Concerned Over Impending Furloughs

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) safety employees represented by the Professional Aviation Safety Specialists, AFL-CIO (PASS) are troubled by the current standoff

between lawmakers regarding an extension of taxes and spending authority for the airport and airway trust fund. The dispute concerns two contentious provisions and places many FAA programs in peril.

"We urge lawmakers to take swift action to ensure that FAA safety programs will continue to operate and that the flying public will not be impacted," said PASS President Tom Brantley. "Holding FAA safety programs hostage by insisting that controversial provisions be addressed at the 11th hour is not fair to the employees who face furloughs at midnight on Friday, and it is certainly not fair to the American flying public."
