PASS Celebrates Federal Employees

After an unprecedented year that has impacted every segment of society, PASS wants to recognize the extraordinary federal employees it represents at the Federal Aviation Administration and the Department of Defense during Public Service Recognition Week (PSRW). These dedicated men and women remained on the job, many of them virtually, to serve the American public and to keep the nation’s air traffic control system running smoothly even as travel was down because of the pandemic. “The workforce we represent is highly skilled, experienced and dedicated to the job of keeping our skies safe,” said PASS National President Mike Perrone. “They never missed a beat as the country went on lockdown in March of 2020,” he continued. “And because of their efforts, essential personnel, equipment—and now vaccines—reached their destinations in order to take care of those impacted by the pandemic."

Since 1985, Congress has designated the first full week of May as PSRW to show appreciation for the men and women who serve our nation as government employees. Managed by the Partnership for Public Service, a nonpartisan organization dedicated to making government more effective and efficiant, PSRW is a great opportunity for the country to acknowledge the important work PASS members and all federal employees do every day to keep our nation running, even during a national emergency.

PASS represents—and celebrates—a diverse workforce that supports the largest, safest and most complex air traffic control system in the world. They are: systems specialists who keep National Airspace System equipment in service; inspectors who makes sure planes and helicopters are safe to fly; flight inspection and mission support employees who ensure the integrity of procedures; safety support staff and more who are there every step of the way and on the job 24/7.

PSRW is the perfect opportunity to shine a spotlight on PASS members and other federal, state and municipal public servants who serve this country.

“Not only are PASS members ensuring safety in the air and on the ground, military and civilian federal employees are defending our country every day. In fact, public servants are all around us,” said President Perrone. “They protect our streets and homes, educate our children, deliver our mail, fight wildfires, process taxes, inspect our food and medication and provide health care services. The list goes on. And they did not stop during the pandemic.”

With sincere gratitude, PASS thanks all of its members and all public servants for their commitment and dedication to this country.
