Dozens of unions, representing hundreds of thousands of federal employees, rallied outside the courthouse in Washington, D.C., July 25 where a judge was hearing arguments that the three anti-federal employee executive orders issued in May are illegal. PASS National President Mike Perrone joined other labor leaders on the stage. Organized by AFGE, the #RedForFeds rally also drew speakers from both the House and Senate who are supportive of federal employees, their unions and the work they do on behalf of the American public.

Support Federal Employees: Wear Red For Feds July 25

Federal employees and their unions have been under sustained attacks from many quarters, including the administration and Congress. On July 25 in Washington, D.C., lawyers from several unions representing hundreds of thousands of federal workers will be arguing their case in court against the three executive orders issued in May that undermine 40 years of civil service law.
 
On that day, the largest of these unions, the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE), is hosting a rally and picket in D.C. and across the country: #RedForFeds. PASS, on behalf of its 11,000 members at the Federal Aviation Administration and the Department of Defense, fully supports these efforts.
 
As they fight it out in court, PASS, AFGE, the Union Veterans Council and other federal unions are calling on members and allies across the country to participate in a nationwide show of solidarity and support for federal government workers by wearing red to work on Wednesday, July 25, 2018.
 
Federal employees serve their country 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. These dedicated men and women are proud to work on behalf of the American public. They deserve our respect and gratitude.

Celebrating Our Independence

As our nation celebrates its independence on July 4th, PASS-represented employees at the Federal Aviation Administration will be working side-by-side with thousands of dedicated federal workers who will be on the job protecting our fellow citizens. Fireworks will be lighting up the sky “from sea to shining sea” Wednesday night and PASS members will be keeping the National Airspace System safe for the flying public. Proud to serve our country today and every day. Fly safe, be safe.

PASS, Federal Labor Coalition, Call on Office of Special Counsel to Protect Employees

The Professional Aviation Safety Specialists (PASS), AFL-CIO today joined a coalition of federal employee unions to send a letter to the Office of Special Counsel (OSC) expressing concern that one of the executive orders issued by the White House in late May could trigger retaliation against labor relations professionals at federal agencies who attempt to bargain in good faith with employee representatives.

Republican Lawmakers Call on President to Rescind Workforce EOs

In a letter to President Trump on Monday, 21 House Republicans expressed their objections to the three executive orders issued late last month that would restrict federal employees’ union rights. They have called on the president to rescind these orders, believing they undermine existing labor laws.

“Federal workers have taken an oath of service to our great nation, and we take very seriously their duty to provide the American public with quality services,” the lawmakers wrote. “That is why we believe that now, more than ever, it is important to uphold and strengthen the working relationships between federal workers and agency leadership.”

PASS played an active role in recruiting lawmakers to sign on to the letter.

PASS Joins Union Fight to Protect Veterans’ Care

A coalition of 17 labor organizations joined forces to send a letter yesterday to the U.S. Senate opposing S.2372, the VA Mission Act. The bill gives the Secretary of Veterans Affairs (VA) sweeping authority to privatize and dismantle large swaths of the VA health care system. PASS signed on to this letter hoping to prevent this harmful legislation from being passed and to protect the health and well-being of the nation’s veterans. PASS is honored to count among its members many men and women who served in the armed forces.
